Xaló – Jalón

Xaló (Spanish: Jalón) lies around twenty kilometres from the coast, in the heart of the Vall de Pop — one of the most fertile and picturesque inland valleys on the Costa Blanca. At 189 metres above sea level, surrounded by vineyards, almond groves and the imposing Sierra de Bernia, Xaló breathes a rhythm completely different from the busy coastal resorts. The village has around 2,700 inhabitants and a typically Valencian character: narrow streets, a lively square, a weekly market (the famous Rastro de Jalón) and several bodegas where local wine is made and tasted.

Facilities are surprisingly good for a village of this size. There are primary schools, medical care, shops and a good range of restaurants. For a wider offer, Calpe (20 min), Moraira (15 min) or Xàbia (20 min) are close by. Xaló is liveable all year round and is attracting an increasing number of international buyers who consciously choose the inland.

Nature & activities

The Jalón Valley is one of the most beautiful rural areas on the Costa Blanca — a living landscape of vineyards, almond blossom in February and spectacular mountain trails.

• Vineyards & bodegas — Xaló is the wine centre of the region. Local bodegas offer tastings and tours. The moscatel is a speciality.
• Sierra de Bernia — the distinctive mountain range to the south of the village, with spectacular hiking routes and views over the coast.
• Rastro de Jalón — the weekly market is an institution in the region, with local produce, antiques and art.
• Walking & MTB — extensive network of trails through the valley and surrounding mountains, suitable for all levels.
• Almond blossom — in February the valley turns white and pink — one of the most beautiful natural spectacles on the Costa Blanca.

Living & neighbourhoods

Xaló offers a mix of authentic village properties and villas in the surrounding valley and hills, generally at lower prices than coastal towns.

• Centre (Pueblo) — traditional village houses and smaller apartments in the historic heart. Characterful and affordable. Popular with those who want to fully integrate into village life.
• Valley villas — villas and fincas on large plots among the vineyards and almond groves. Plenty of greenery, privacy and views over the valley. The most sought-after segment.
• Hillside urbanisations — small residential estates on the hills around the village, with panoramic views over the valley and towards the coast. Mix of Spanish and international residents.
• Renovated fincas — old country houses outside the village, often with large plots and authentic architecture. Ideal for those who prioritise space and tranquillity.
