Tamariu

Tamariu is the smallest and most unspoilt of the three coastal villages of the municipality of Palafrugell — an intimate bay surrounded by pine trees and rocks, with a quiet beach, a handful of restaurants and virtually no tourist infrastructure. The village takes its name from the tamarisk trees that grow along the coast. Tamariu has traditionally attracted a loyal following of wealthy Catalan families who deliberately keep the village small and quiet. There is no promenade, no marina, no mass tourism — just the bay, the forest and the sea.

For daily shopping and more extensive facilities, Palafrugell is 6 kilometres away. Llafranc is reachable via the Camí de Ronda. The bay of Aigua Xelida is within walking distance via the coastal path.

Beach & nature

• Platja de Tamariu — quiet, sheltered beach with clear water, surrounded by pine forests. Small-scale and atmospheric.
• Cala Aigua Xelida — beautiful wild cove within walking distance via the coastal path, one of the most beautiful in the region.
• Camí de Ronda — connects Tamariu with Llafranc along spectacular coastal landscapes.
• Pine forests — the hinterland of Tamariu consists of extensive pine forests, ideal for walking and MTB.

Living & property

• Beachfront properties — the rarest properties, directly on or close to the beach. Generational ownership, rarely on the market.
• Villas in the pine forests — spacious villas on wooded plots around the village. More available than beachfront properties, but still scarce.
• Apartments — very limited, small complexes. Popular as a pied-à-terre.
