S’Agaró
S'Agaró is one of the most exclusive villages on the Costa Brava — a historic residential core with art-deco villas, the iconic Hostal de la Gavina and two beautiful beaches. Peace, glamour and architectural beauty in a class of its own.
More about S’Agaró
S'Agaró is an official residential village within the municipality of Castell-Platja d'Aro, situated between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d'Aro. The village originated from 1916 as an exclusive property project by the Ensesa family, designed by Catalan architect Rafael Masó in his distinctive noucentista style. That origin is still visible today: elegant art-deco villas, carefully landscaped gardens and a coastline that resembles nothing else on the Costa Brava. The Hostal de la Gavina, opened in 1932, grew into the most iconic hotel in the region — Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, John Wayne, Salvador Dalí and Josep Pla all stayed here. S'Agaró attracts a completely different audience than neighbouring Platja d'Aro — more discreet, seeking peace, glamour and architectural beauty.
S'Agaró has no daily facilities of its own — it is an exclusive residential village. For daily shopping and more extensive facilities, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d'Aro are a short drive away. Girona Airport is around 35 minutes away, Barcelona an hour and a half.
Beach & nature
- Platja de Sant Pol — the iconic beach of S'Agaró, wide and sheltered, with the Hostal de la Gavina directly on the waterfront. One of the most beautiful beaches in the region.
- Platja de Sa Conca — S'Agaró's second beach, with Blue Flag, quieter and semi-circular. Unspoilt and beautiful.
- Camí de Ronda S'Agaró — the coastal path through S'Agaró is considered one of the most beautiful stretches of the entire Costa Brava, with spectacular views and architectural heritage along the route.
Living & property
S'Agaró has two clearly distinct zones, each attracting a different type of buyer.
- La Gavina — the original, ultra-exclusive and guarded gated community on the headland, directly around the Hostal de la Gavina and Platja de Sant Pol. Historic art-deco villas and manor houses with direct sea views. Prices start from €4 million and can reach €20 million and above. Rarely on the market — one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in all of Spain.
- S'Agaró Nou — the luxury residential districts and villas just outside the walls of La Gavina, towards the beaches of Sant Pol and Sa Conca. Publicly accessible but still very exclusive. Relatively more available, with the same unique S'Agaró character.
