Alcalalí

Alcalalí lies at around 240 metres above sea level in the Jalón Valley, surrounded by the Sierra de Bernia and the Sierra del Castell de la Solana. It is one of the smallest and most authentic villages in the valley — just 14 km² in size, with a few hundred inhabitants and a village life centred around the 15th-century tower that houses the church and the Grape Museum (Museu de la Pansa). The name reveals its Arab origins; the narrow streets and the position in the landscape are silent witnesses to this. Alcalalí is not a tourist village — it is a place where people live.

For daily facilities and a wider range, Xaló/Jalón is 5 minutes away. The coast at Dénia and Calpe is around 20 minutes away. Alcalalí attracts buyers who consciously choose peace, space and affordability — often as an alternative to the increasingly expensive coastal towns.

Nature & activities

• Almond blossom — in January and February the valley turns white and pink. One of the most beautiful natural spectacles in the region.
• Sierra de Bernia — the distinctive mountain range to the south of the village, with spectacular hiking routes.
• Museu de la Pansa — the unique grape museum in the 15th-century tower, a window onto the agricultural history of the valley.
• Walking & MTB — extensive network of trails through the valley and surrounding mountains, accessible directly from the village.

Living & property

• Village houses — traditional Valencian houses in the centre, often for renovation. Entry from around €100,000-€150,000.
• Renovated fincas & country houses — outside the village, on large plots with valley and mountain views. Popular with international buyers.
• Hillside villas — modern and traditional villas with panoramic views. Prices considerably lower than in Xaló or the coastal towns.
